Removal of neck cysts

The most common abnormalities of the neck are neck cysts and neck fistulas. These usually occur in the middle and lateral areas of the neck, are painless and may recur. Surgical removal is always necessary.

The operation is performed as an inpatient procedure under general anaesthesia. The cyst is exposed and removed via a small incision. At the end of the operation, a small drain is inserted, which must be left in place for approximately 2 days.
